Subject: Total for Lucy's Lemonade Stand in Madeira
We had a fabulous turnout for our Lemonade for Lucy stand. The weather cooperated and so did the businesses and community members of Madeira!
Thanks again to Kristen Hertzer, branch manager of the National City Madeira branch, who let us set up shop in their parking lot. Sally, Peter and Brian all worked at National City that day and motivated bank customers to stop by our stand on their way out.
To recap, Crayons (r) sponsored 1,000 lemonade stands across the country to be held on Saturday, June 21st. Crayons(r) provided the stand and lemonade, and all profits were to be donated to a charity of one's choice. (You can learn more by visiting their website www.drinkcrayons.com). Our children were chosen, and immediately thought of Lucy Yungblut, a Mt Washington Baptist preschooler that was diagnosed in November 2007 with leukemia. (You can learn more about Lucy at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/lucyyungblut.) The kids decorated the stand they dubbed "Lemonade for Lucy" and volunteered their time from 10am - 1pm on Saturday for this great cause. Siblings Natalie, Jake, Sydney and AJ Gould teamed up with sisters McKenzy and Brooke Williams to run this lemonade stand. The guest of honor, Lucy Yungblut, showed up bright and early and smiled and shook hands with all the customers happy to meet this brave little girl. Her parents, Emily and David, and sisters Charlotte and Sophie, (brother Jack was out of town) all stopped by and shared in this day.
Our amazing total for donations was $522.36!!!!
Jeff from the morning show at Q102 stopped by with the Q102 bus and brought t-shirts, some loyal fans and then donated $100 to our stand!
A Madeira policeman whose name we did not catch not only bought lemonade, but came back and presented Lucy with the policeman cookie jar filled with coins he had been saving up in his locker at work.
The employees at Anne Rice Limited bought lemonade, and then went one amazing step further and donated a Vera Bradley purse in Lucy's favorite color, pink!
Employees from many of the neighboring businesses stopped by and donated, including Romualdo's, Kennedy's, and Choo Choo's Restaurant. We even saw us bank customers pull out of their parking lot across the street and drive over to buy lemonade from Lucy.
We couldn't have asked for a better day or a better turnout. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped out Lucy's family. We are splitting the proceeds, with half going to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the other half going directly to the benefit of the Yungblut family and their overwhelming medical expenses. If anyone would like to make a donation, you can stop by any National City Bank where a benefit account has been opened.
With much appreciation,

Salem Gardens and Emily 40th
From Kelly Lowe:
A reminder of the upcoming fundraiser for Miss Lucy-
Salem Gardens, TUESDAY FEB 26
( Which also happens to be Emily's birthday...as one of our friend's says...the 20th anniversary of her 20th birthday!)
The Mio's fundraiser was wonderfully successful..thank you to all who showed up, and to those who tried, and to those who thought about it! Due to the wonderful support the Yungbluts have, Salem Gardens has advised the following:
We will be staffed fully to handle the crowd. I hope you can have people arrive after 6:00 because thats the earliest I can get a full staff. Most of my servers have day jobs too. I would hope not to need anyone to help bus etc., just come in and enjoy. We will reserve the curved booth for the Yungblut's. Unfortunately we are not allowed, by law, to donate any of the portion of alcohol sales, but we will give the 20% of all food and soft drink sales. I am not sure of what the hours should be but what do you think about 6-9. We are looking forward to this fundraiser and we will do our best to give you great food and service. Thanks.
